Tudományos fokozat:
In the past 40 years, researchers and engineers of the Centre for Energy Research have developed several advanced radiation detector systems for space dosimetry purposes and recently for studying space weather effects on board aircraft, stratospheric balloons, sounding rockets and spacecraft. The radiation measurements in space have been mostly conducted in collaboration with the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP-RAS), the European Space Agency (ESA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
The development of a Hungarian neutron monitor station and a series of space weather experiments on board sounding rockets and stratospheric research balloons is foreseen in the coming years.
Candidate will participate in the comprehensive analysis, evaluation and interpretation of the measurement results as well as in the preceeding Monte Carlo particle transport simulations. By collecting, fusing and analyzing the data obtained he/she shall develop advanced data exploitation techniques to get the most out of the measurements. The aim of the work is to develop models for the galactic cosmic ray flux in the atmosphere at high geomagnetic latitudes as function of altitude and for different geomagnetic conditions based on theory, particle transport calculations and results of measurements performed by the applicant. The model developed shall predict the altitude of the Pfotzer Maximum boh in the direction of the zenith and the astronomical horizon.
Professional support will be provided to the Candidate by the Space Radiation Department of the Centre for Energy Research.

The applicant shall possess sufficient knowledge and experience in the field of nuclear techniques, especially radiation protection and dosimetry. He/she shall be able to work also independently, has new ideas and his/her English is sufficient for performing literature survey in the field. Knowledge and experience in C, C++ or Python programming language is also an advantage.
