Leírás:

Quantum communication is a rapadly developing branch of quantum information science. There are several successfull experiments which demonstrate the transfer of quantum information over 100 km distance through telecom optical fibers. Besed on these successes, developers aim at realizing the quantum internet, which covers even a continent, such as Europe.

At present, the primary goal of quantum communication is to share secret klassical keys exploiting the laws of quantum mechanics. In our lab we started to develop such a quantum communication device, the basic resorce of quantum key sharing is a stream of polarization entangled photon pairs. We are going to participate in quantum key sharing experiments with the BME and with international partners.

The task of the candidate is to participate in the development of our quantum key sharing device. It involves building up the optical setup of the receiver, preparing measurements to verify the proper operation, testing the link with the partner institutes, and finally run the quantum key sharing experiment.

Elvárások:

Good experimental skills, previous experience in developing optical experiments is an advantage.  Good command in English, knowledge of some high-level programming language (Python, Matlab). Some knowledge in electronics is highly appreciated.
